Founded in 1968, deep in the heart of Italy, the fashion house is above all else the story of a family that started with Giacomo Etro, who opened his own textile factory. His speciality was already luxurious: cashmere. The quality fabrics and patterns inspired by the designer's numerous travels made the company famous. In the '80s, the brand grew in popularity with the launch of the famous Paisley pattern, the development of a ready-to-wear collection, and unique leather designs. In the '90s, Etro designs were show in Fashion Week runway shows. Kean, the son of Giacomo, also began working on the menswear line. The women's collection was taken over by his sister, Veronica. The Etro children drove the brand to the fashion forefront, making it an international success. With influences ranging from bohemian style, art, and travelling, along with both vintage and contemporary fashion, Etro has left it's mark on the world of luxury.
